Entry 009: Strength

Today freaking sucked. I thought I was about to uncover something magical, but instead I found nothing but pain I was nowhere near prepared for

I spent hours watching these little creatures crawling around, carrying things so much bigger than their bodies. It reminded me of Neptune—how everyone is constantly in motion, always doing something, carrying the weight of responsibility without pause. To see that same drive packed into something so tiny almost didn’t feel real.

Then I spotted a mound of dirt where they kept disappearing inside. From the surface it was just a lump, but my mind wouldn’t let it go. A voice whispered: touch it, touch it. And of course, I gave in.

At first I only brushed a little away, taking a bit off the top,  But then I started digging, imagining whole tunnel systems hidden underneath. I wanted to see their world.

Instead, all I found was a hole. A big, empty hole.

That’s when the pinching started. I didn’t even notice it at first, until I looked down.

Hundreds of furious beings swarming up my arms, crawling into my suit, biting wherever they could. My body panicked before my mind did. I was thrashing, slapping parts of my body, screaming like it was the end of me. It sounds so ridiculous looking back on it but at that moment, I thought I was gonna roll over and die.

When it was over, I was left covered in dirt and shame.  Even though I have invisibility mode on, it didn’t matter. I still felt so embarrassed. I looked back at the mound I’d torn apart, and they were already repairing it. Just carrying on, like nothing had happened, like I hadn’t just destroyed their home. I think I let my curiosity get the best of me this time around.

I scanned them afterward, just to know what they were. Earth calls them Western Thatching Ants. Somehow putting a name to them made me feel worse. It’s harder to shrug something off once you know what it’s called. Those red headed demons will be on the danger list.

Now I’m lying here, replaying the whole thing in my head. I destroyed their home and they just rebuilt it like it wasn't even a problem. It’s strange how something so small can lose everything in an instant and still rebuild without hesitation, like the chaos never stopped them, only redirected them.
